SCA - Eurostar
Video Production and Live Event
SCA Tissue Europe is the largest consumer tissue supplier in Europe, and has 38 production plants globally. In 2007 SCA implemented a manufacturing excellence programme called Eurostar, the aim of which was to ensure consistent high quality and efficient supply to their customers.
Our role was to help promote the programme to clearly show to both management and operating crews how they could improve their production performance in terms of safety, product quality, waste reduction and machine downtime. MPL already had a good understanding of the 20 keys and Six Sigma programmes around which the initiative was designed.
We launched Eurostar with a video that was produced into six language versions. It included details on the programme, how it would run, its benefits and what the rewards would be. We also included interviews with management and operating crews as well. This was important in demonstrating the enthusiasm that existed for improving the business and to get Europe wide participation in the programme.
We regularly update the key messages to help keep the programme fresh.
Since the launch, MPL has produced memorable award events in Berlin, Rome, Budapest and Porto for the winning teams. As well as advice on the venues, we design the set backdrop and provide all lighting, sound projection and visual support, as well all crew and logistics.
Eurostar has made a significant impact on production efficiency and has therefore proved to be highly successful and motivational for SCA and we enjoy being part of it.

TOTAL UK - Dynamic Risk Assessment
Video Production
Many of the day to day actions that take place in the petroleum business carry significant safety and environmental risks. That is why TOTAL UK has strict health and safety rules and undertakes extensive training programmes that are designed to keep their business, their employees, and the public, as safe as possible.
MPL was asked to produce a video that promoted Dynamic Risk Assessment. This essentially means briefly taking the time to consider the situation, the environment and the possible outcome of any actions.
MPL was heavily involved in the structure, style and scripting of the video. Our aim was to convey that Dynamic Risk Assessment should become a natural part of the working day. We cited two actual examples where accidents had occurred to staff in situations that could have been easily avoided.
The challenge with any video of this type is to make it relevant to the viewer. You don't want somebody saying that 'yes it was interesting, but it doesn't really affect me in what I do'!
We chose aspects of TOTAL UK’s business channels that dealt with a wide spectrum of possible incidents that would be relevant to everyone. We covered the prevention of accidents within the office, within a storage terminal, a production plant, delivering fuel and on a retail site.
The final video was very successful; the feedback from the client showed that it was a major contributor to reducing lost time accidents because it was pertinent to their business rather than an off the shelf video. It was later personalised for other countries.
